Here you will find answers to some frequently asked questions.

The museum is located on 1 Tsar Osvoboditel Blvd, Sofia. There are many ways to reach us. We are within walking distance of several subway, bus, trolley bus and tramway stops.

The museum is open every day from 10:00 to 18:00 (on 24 and 31 December: 10:00 — 13:00) except 1 January, 3 March, Easter [Eastern] and 25 December. Last admission is at 17:30.
The admission fees are as follows:

— single ticket for persons above age 18: 12.00 BGN / €6.14
— pupils, students, retirees: 6.00 BGN / €3.07
— children age 3—6: 4.00 BGN / €2.05
— family ticket (parents with 2 children under age 18): 30.00 BGN / €15.34
— groups of pupils and students over 10 people: 4.00 BGN / €2.05
— guided tour [upon request by phone (+359 87) 9226573] in Bulgarian: 30.00 BGN / €15.34
— guided tour [upon request by phone (+359 87) 9226573] in English: 50.00 BGN / €25.56

Free admission:

— people with disabilities and their companions
— children under age 3
— May 18 (International Museum Day)

— every first Tuesday of the month — retirees
The museum has an entrance ramp and mobile platform, giving access to the exhibitions for people with disabilities.

The museum has four scientific departments — Palaeontology and Mineralogy, Botany, Invertebrates and Vertebrates. The dominant part of the scientific activities is devoted to the animal world. Particular attention is paid to the biodiversity of Bulgaria and the neighbouring countries and to the description of new taxa from many countries all over the world.
The National Museum of Natural History has a history of more than one hundred and thirty years. It is the oldest museum in Bulgaria and the oldest and richest among the natural history museums on the Balkan Peninsula.
