Museum position on open data
The National Museum of Natural History at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences supports international scientific principles and standards for open science. These principles encompass free access to scientific publications, data, and metadata, as well as maximum transparency in the review processes of scientific articles, projects, and other related endeavors. In this regard, we strive to implement the best practices for accessing biodiversity data in Bulgaria by making it available on the GBIF (Global Biodiversity Information Facility) — the largest platform providing open access to biodiversity data worldwide.
Our museum stands as the sole scientific organization in Bulgaria to have endorsed the Bouchout Declaration for Open Biodiversity Knowledge:
