Research interests

Research on beetles (Insecta: Coleoptera), emphasizing on family Carabidae. Involved in different projects for monitoring and assessment of the biodiversity. Statistical data analyses of faunistical and ecological data.

Current projects

December 2019—current. ‘Structural-functional characteristics and perspectives for the use of endemic, relict conifer communities in Bulgaria in the changing climate conditions’. Funded by Ministry of Education and Science of Bulgaria. Main activity: expert Coleoptera: Carabidae and biostatistics.

December 2018—current. ‘Cybertaxonomic approach to phylogenetic studies of model invertebrate genera (Invertebrata, Arachnida, Insecta) clarifying the problems of origin, formation and conservation of the invertebrate fauna of the Balkan Peninsula’. Funded by Ministry of Education and Science of Bulgaria. Main activity: expert Coleoptera: Carabidae and biostatistics.

March—September 2016. ‘Improvement of the information system to the National System for Monitoring of the Biodiversity (IBBIS)’. Public Procurement: ‘Selection of experts for development of indicators for assessment of biodiversity — Bulgarian Natural Index (BNI)’ — Expert — Consultant on invertebrates. Main activity: expert invertebrates and biostatistics.

2014—2015. ‘Development of strategic guidelines for preservation/maintenance and restoration of favorable status of natural habitats in 11 model territories from the treeless zone’. Project ‘Central Balkan — park for everyone’, Funded by the European Regional Development Fund and the State Budget of the Republic of Bulgaria through the Operational Program ‘Environment’ 2007—2013. Main activity: expert biostatistics.
