The May 2026 issue has been published

Issue 5 of volume 48 of Historia naturalis bulgarica was published today, 4 May. It includes four articles.

The first, Floristic updates and a new species record for the Bulgarian flora by Georgi Kunev, Gabriela Petrova, Daniela Mihova and Ivan Kostadinov, presents new regional chorological data for eighteen plant taxa. One of the recorded species, Viola hymettia, is new to the Bulgarian flora.

The second, First record of Myophthiria zeylanica Maa, 1980 (Diptera: Hippoboscidae) from India by Jozef Oboňa, Arockianathan Samson, Kesavan Rishi, Anbazhagan Abinesh, Elangovan Vignesh, Moorthi Saran, Mohammed Shahir, Nizamudheen Moinudheen, and Azad Kamil, reports the first record of M. zeylanica from India, based on a single female collected from an Indian swiftlet (Aerodramus unicolor (Jerdon, 1840)) found dead during a field visit in the Nilgiri Hills, Tamil Nadu.

The third, Three species and two genera of darkling beetles (Coleoptera: Tenebrionidae) new to the Bulgarian fauna by Ognyan Sivilov, Vassil Vassilev, Rostislav Bekchiev, Maria Naumova and Hristina Hristova, reports Cnemeplatia atropos A. Costa, 1847, Lyphia tetraphylla (Fairmaire, 1856) and Uloma rufa (Piller et Mitterpacher, 1783) as well as the genera Cnemeplatia Costa, 1847 and Lyphia Mulsant et Rey, 1859 for the first time in Bulgaria.

And the fourth, A key to the taxa of the genus Agrilus Curtis, 1825 (Coleoptera: Buprestidae: Agrilinae) in Bulgaria. I by Vladimir Sakalian, Toshko Ljubomirov and Georgi Georgiev, presents a key to all 10 representatives of subgenus Quecuagrilus in Bulgaria.
