On October 11th, 2024, the guest exhibit from 2024 edition of the project LOOK — ECOLOGY AND TECHNOLOGY was unveiled in the 4th floor foyer of the National Museum of Natural History, Sofia by museum Director Prof. Pavel Stoev and initiators Rositsa Getsova and Elizabeth Thallauer.
They presented the project and seven of the participants whose works are exhibited at the museum — Anna Steward, Georgi Ruzhev, Kalina Dimitrova, Claudia Holzinger, Michaela Lakova, Surshenko (Lea Rudi), and Han Tang.
The LOOK — ECOLOGY AND TECHNOLOGY project was conceived and initiated by Rositsa Getsova and Elizabeth Thallauer as a platform for presenting contemporary artist opinions that explore and interpret socio-ecological issues via experimentation with new materials and technologies. The goal of the organisers is to support the creation of artworks with innovative technological means, as well as the exploration and creative interpretation of ecological problems.
In each edition they invite established artists as well as artists at the very start of their creative career, guided by the conviction that their combined work not only allows for an effective exchange of ideas, experience, and contacts, but also strongly supports the communication between artists and audience. Everyone’s efforts are aimed at creating a contemporary, complex artwork that purposefully draws interest towards new tendencies in art, influenced by technological advancement, ecological challenges, and our responsibility towards the planet we live on.
