SYMBIOSIS — first joint exhibition of the National Museum of Natural History, Sofia and the National Academy of Arts, Sofia

The SYMBIOSIS exhibition was opened on 13 March 2025 at the National Museum of Natural History, Sofia (NMNHS) by Dr Zlatka Yaramova, Head of Cultural Activities at the Museum, Assoc. Prof. Asya Asenova, Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Biology at Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski”, Assoc. Prof. Stefan Belishki, Vice-Rector of the National Academy of Arts, Sofia (NAAS) and Assoc. Prof. Dr Alexander Gerginov, Lecturer in the “Fashion Design” specialty at the NAAS and Manager of the SYMBIOSIS project.

In the presence of colleagues from the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences, lecturers from the NAAS, students and guests on the fourth floor of the Museum, the works of the 13 second-year students of the “Fashion Design” specialty at the NAAS were presented, a result of the joint project between the three institutions. The main message of the students in their works is tied to two of the leading aspects of sustainable fashion today — the preservation of biodiversity and the development of clothing with minimal waste.

The National Museum of Natural History, Sofia provides its exhibition as an environment for inspiration and a meeting of art and natural sciences.

The designer clothes are exhibited on mannequins in the “Lords of the Planet” hall on the 4th floor. In the foyer, next to the hall, information boards present the species of animals that inspired the students with their drawings and materials from the creative process.

The exhibition continues until 5 May 2025.
